Veterans could receive extra benefits for time spent in hospital

Veterans in Georgia provide a great service for their country and make a sacrifice that many other people do not make. This sacrifice these individuals make involve leaving their homes, their families and their life to go into dangerous situations on the other side of the world. The sacrifices can also include their bodies. Being in combat situations is very dangerous and many servicemembers come home with injuries. Some of the injuries are very serious as well and can require significant medical treatment.

This means that they will be unable to perform many daily physical activities and make life very difficult. They can also be forced to spend significant periods of time in a hospital to receive medical care. To help these veterans, especially after the sacrifices they gave to their country, they may be able to receive VA disability benefits to help compensate them for the injuries they suffered.

There are different factors that go into to determining the amount of compensation, one of those is how much time veterans spend in the hospital recovering from injuries. If a veteran spends 21 days or more in a VA hospital or another hospital at the VA’s expense treating injuries for a service-related injury, they may be entitled to increased benefits or a temporary 100% disability rating while in the hospital, which affects the amount of compensation they receive.

There are many veterans in Georgia who have spent significant time in hospitals treating service-related injuries. They could receive additional benefits for the time they spent in the hospital. However, in order to receive the benefits, the veteran must apply and provide documentation from the hospital that demonstrates the total time spent in the hospital and the injury being treated. Experienced attorneys understand this process and may be able to guide one through it.
